Public Information Event: October 16, 2004

All mitigation projects are on hold until further notice.

The CBMC and the Crescent City Farmers Market’s White Boot Brigade held a special public event on the Mitigation Plan for the Industrial Canal Lock Replacement Project. During this outdoor market event, people were able to purchase fresh Louisiana shrimp and local produce, while learning about the progress of mitigation in the Lower Ninth Ward, Holy Cross, Bywater, and St. Claude/Florida neighborhoods.

Posters displayed at the event are shown below. Full size documents in pdf format are available for download.

Vacant Lots Program
The CBMC has designed a program that will help residents of the impact area maintain vacant lots in their neighborhoods by offering a free one-time lot cleanup to any neighboring property owner who is willing to sign a letter of commitment to continue the upkeep of the lot. A participating party who maintains a vacant lot can eventually acquire it through the City's Blight Busters program.
